It is an inflammatory, benign, non-contagious skin disease that affects approximately 2% of the general population. It has periods of improvement and worsening and in most cases arises in the scalp, elbows and knees. However, it can appear on any part of the skin as well as on the nails and joints (psoriatic arthritis).

Psoriasis can manifest at any time in life, being more frequent between the second and fourth decades, affecting equally men and women. The cause of psoriasis is related to genetic, immunological and environmental factors.

The treatment is individualized, depending on the type and extent of the lesions and the characteristics of each person. Psoriasis can be treated with a single medicine, with several, or even with rotation of, the same. None of the treatment methods guarantees definitive cure, but it is possible to obtain adequate control of the disease.
