Varicose veins consist of dilated and deformed veins in the superficial portion of the skin, usually appearing in the legs, feet and thighs, causing swelling and pain. Present in about 70% of people by age 70, varicose veins develop when the valves of the veins are diseased, causing blood accumulation and deformation.
One of the factors that may explain the cause of varicose veins is heredity, that is, the problem is passed down from generation to generation. However, there exist other factors that also lead to the onset of the problem, such being on your feet for long periods, thrombosis, advanced age and obesity, among others.
The Natalia Cymrot Dermatological Clinic offers treatment options for varicose veins; following an evaluation and diagnosis of each patient, a recommendation for the best option is made. All procedures are outpatient (performed at the clinic) by qualified professionals.
Laser Treatment – A minimally invasive procedure, which destroys only veins that are diseased, without removing them. Compared with traditional varicose vein surgery, there is a faster and less painful recovery, and the procedure leaves no scars.
Sclerotherapy – The procedure consists of the injection of a product that helps to destroy diseased veins, and is therefore a more invasive option. The recommendation for this treatment is done by dermatologist based on the patient’s diagnosis.
